Covering a broad sweep of the genre of science fiction—from James Blish, Robert Heinlein, and Samuel Delaney to more contemporary works by Nnedi Okorafor, Joanna Russ, and Ursula Le Guin—and considering a combination of narrative formula and teaching story peculiar to the history of the genre, this talk promises to be a fascinating critical journey through narratology and genre presented by one of the foremost scholars of sf and fantasy. Please book via Eventbrite (https://sciencefictionalparabolas.eventbrite.co.uk), as spaces are limited.
